Hello Woodfield swim families -- hope you all are staying safe and as sane as possible. I'm writing to give you an update on the status of swim season, via ASA meetings held this week. Here is a complete update for families, straight from ASA.

1. Short version: we're not cancelled yet, though the next couple weeks will be critical. The ASA is attempting to determine whether swim meets can be held without compromising health and safety or violating CDC/state guidelines on public gatherings. (See below for links to the ASA's update and a summary of Q&A sessions.) 

2. The meets will likely be "virtual," in the sense that we'll swim our events at our pool, our opponent will swim theirs at their pool, and we'll combine the results to see who wins. Rest assured that I plan to treat a "virtual" meet just like a real one -- music, cheering, etc. -- as much as we are able. 

3. Meets likely will not begin until late June or July. I realize this cuts into vacation time for many families. As soon as we have ANY info, I'll share it.

4. VERY IMPORTANT -- We still need your swimmers! Please sign up if you haven't already done so -- there are no late fees, and everything is fully refundable if we don't have a season. And if you can't sign up yet, please reply here or to [email protected] and let me know you're still interested -- we need to confirm to ASA that we still are interested in having a team this year, and we'll need a few more swimmers to do that. 

I wish I could bring you more definitive news, but hopefully we'll get the go-ahead soon. I would love to have a swim season this year, and your coaches are out-of-their-minds excited to get going.
