Ripples

Introducing the new name of our non-competitive group of young swimmers: THE RIPPLES!

We are proud to be one of few teams in the area that offers a way for kids not yet ready to compete, not yet swimming the length of the pool, or not yet confident in the pool a way to be a part of the summer league experience!

Our Ripples follow the same schedule as our Waves. However, this group will get more hands-on small group lessons. They typically divide up among a few lanes with a junior coach in each lane to a ratio of around 3-4 kids per coach. Kids will get comfortable in the water first, then work to improve their confidence and strokes. In the past few seasons, we have seen several kids per season progress from Ripples to Waves! In 2022, one child who started as a Ripple even went to the County Meet and came home with a medal!

Beginning in 2023, ASA is requires the Ripples to be official members of Atlanta Swim Association (ASA) along with our Waves. This is due to liability waivers and liability coverage that is needed for all swimmers. However, this also means Ripples can move easily onto the main Waves team without having to pay more in registration fees. It becomes a simple click of a button to include them in a swim meet!

A few important things to note. The junior coaches teaching these kids are not professional instructors. They are, however, longtime swimmers, many of whom also teach private lessons and are excited to help introduce kids to swimming. Our Ripples get lessons 5 days a week for approximately 7 weeks! You can't pass up that kind of experience.

Ripples families are not required to volunteer for meets, but are encouraged to come cheer on their friends and enjoy the festivities. Ripples families also are not required to buy a team suit.

We are excited to welcome a new batch of Woodfield Ripples to the pool in 2026!
