Meet #1 recap: Congrats & info

Meet #1 is in the books, and I want to thank everyone who helped out across the board. These moving meets are strange things, but I really appreciate you being flexible and rolling with all the changes. (Of COURSE we had to have lightning.) Special thanks to Meredith Hegarty for wrangling volunteers and Dan Walsh for wrangling an arcane meet software system.

    Anyway, a few notes:

-Today will be a normal practice, and then we'll have donuts tomorrow and some version of "Fun Friday." No wrestling in the pool, but the coaches are coming up with safe socially distanced games. NO PRACTICE FRIDAY -- enjoy your holiday weekend.

-Please let the coaches know IN WRITING if you aren't going to be at a meet -- we had a number of swimmers we expected to be at the meet last night who weren't there. I'll send the coaches' contact info in a separate email right after this one.

-The rain kind of scuttled everything yesterday, but feel free to bring chairs and hang out outside the pool ahead of your assigned time.

-Speaking of which, we got a rough estimate on times: approximately 45 minutes, give or take, for each of our four age groups. (Under 8, 9-10, 11-14, 15-up.) We'll do warmups ahead of each age group, so you can now plan your arrival times accordingly.

-At the other end of your session: please do your best to pack up and leave promptly so we can bring in the next crew. I know it's disorienting, I know it's chaos, but the faster we all move through -- and continue hanging out in the parking lot -- the better for everyone.

-Song requests: Unfortunately I can't take in-meet requests this year -- just too much happening at once -- but if you or your kids want to hear anything special, by all means let me know ahead of time and I'll put it on the playlist for that meet.

-Finally: your comments requested. Anything you saw that we could do better? Any questions or concerns you have? Any confusion about anything? Last night went pretty smoothly from our perspective, but we've been living with this for months. Let me know what I can do to make it easier on you.

Thanks, as always, and we'll see you at the pool --

    Jay
