Sign up for the County Meet at Georgia Tech!
Hello Woodfield families! It’s time to sign up for the annual Fulton County meet at Georgia Tech! This is a very cool event that gives your swimmers a chance to carve the same Olympic pool waters as Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky. Here’s what you need to know:
Who can swim in the county meet?
All swimmers are eligible, no matter what their age. Each swimmer can compete in two events of their choice, and if we have enough swimmers in an age group, we will create relay teams.
When is the meet?
Friday afternoon, July 1. The meet is scheduled to start at 4 and run until 7:30, but we will need to be there well ahead of the start time for warmups. Details on that forthcoming. Basically, it’ll take up your Friday after lunch, but it’s worth it.
Where is the meet?
Georgia Tech’s aquatics center, home of the 1996 Olympic swimming events and still home to NCAA championship events. Your kid’s name will be up on the Olympic board, which is something fun to see. This isn’t your average neighborhood pool.
How much does it cost?
Registration is $35 per swimmer. We’ll have a link live on the Swimtopia website soon for you to e-pay.
Can parents watch?
Yes! This year, parents are allowed back in the building. We’ll set up a meeting time ahead of our practice, and we will sit together as a team. Details on that forthcoming as soon as we get them from ASA. We can also coordinate carpools if you're unable to be there the whole time.
How do I register?
Email us at [email protected] (or reply to this email) with:
- Swimmer’s name
- Two events they want to swim (for example: 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard IM, 25 yard backstroke, whatever they enjoy most from the meets this year)
When is the deadline to register?
We must have all entries by THIS THURSDAY AT NOON.
Questions? Just ask Coach Logan ([email protected]) or reply to this email and we’ll help you out. Looking forward to seeing you at the pool!
-Jay
