Woodfield Waves: Afternoon practices are here!

Hello Woodfield Waves families! Reminder to sign up pronto, as late fees are coming Saturday. And now something that might help you or your friends join up ...

We’re excited to bring you a new element for 2023: afternoon practice times! We know that many of you aren’t able to make morning practices because of camp commitments; we hope this will give you the flexibility to join the team and be a part of the Woodfield Waves family.

The Woodfield board has been gracious enough to allow us to use part of the pool during normal neighborhood hours, so during the summer we will be using only one lane. That means we have to cap the number of swimmers who can compete in the afternoon. (This may change later this season or in future years, but we’re starting slowly.)

    Schedule:
Afternoon swims will take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Meets are Thursdays. No practice on Friday evenings. Afternoon swimmers will get their donuts and ribbons just like morning swimmers, too!

Sessions will run a half-hour, from 5 to 5:30 and 5:30 to 6, capped at SIX swimmers per session.

    Who can swim:
Swimmers MUST be able to swim laps easily and competently. We don’t have the pool space or the coaching staff to offer lessons in the afternoon this year, so afternoon swimming will be limited to swimmers 7 and up (or 6-year-olds with coaches’ approval).

    How to sign up:
Spaces will be first-come, first-served. Contact [email protected] to let us know you’re registering for an afternoon swim slot, and we’ll put your name on the list.

If there is space available after the “afternoon-only” swimmers sign up, we can accommodate some morning swimmers as well. But if you can do either, we ask that you please stick with mornings, as we have much more space and staff in place.

Any questions? Please contact us at [email protected] and we’ll answer every one.

This is our first year trying this, so we’re going to be a bit flexible as we see how this rolls out, and we hope you will too. See you at the pool!
