Thank You - Weather - Swimtopia App
Thank you all for your cooperation in today’s last-minute call to cancel practice. I know we had some disappointed little swimmers who got there all excited just before the thunder began. We are looking forward to tomorrow (weather permitting).
This gives us an opportunity to discuss our number one challenge in summer swimming – weather. Weather is unpredictable especially in the afternoons with pop-up storms as we saw today. The weather can seem to come out of nowhere.
For the safety of all swimmers, we must follow the standard that for each instance of thunder, we must restart a clock for 30 minutes before allowing anyone to enter the water. You’ll hear this same rule not only for practice but swim meets and even free-swim from lifeguards.
We will do our best to get an e-blast out through swimtopia as soon as we can.
With that, we want to encourage everyone to download the Swimtopia app on their devices and ensure notifications are turned on. We will use this as another way to notify of last minute changes by sending a push notification if we have a weather issue. We promise not to blow your devices up with an abundance of messages, but we know not everyone sees email on the go as efficiently. In addition to using it for communications, the app allows you to easily RSVP for meets, sign up for Volunteer slots (once they’re open), view meet events, and link to the website. It is a great resource for your summer swim league experience.
Thank you all again for your flexibility today. We look forward to seeing everyone at the pool tomorrow (weather permitting).
