Hello Woodfield Waves Families,
I am very excited to tell you that registration is open for the 2017 summer swim season! Before you go to www.woodfieldwaves.com to register, take a few minutes to read this email. It contains new information about the upcoming season. Feel free to forward this email to friends or neighbors and post our website on social media to help spread the word about our fun-loving team!
Registration Day:
While you can complete your entire registration online, we invite you to our “In-Person” Registration Day at the Woodfield Clubhouse on Saturday, April 15 from 12:00-2:00 PM. Come meet the coaches, pick up some vintage Woodfield Waves goodies and get fitted a team swim suit. Suits will also be available for purchase that day.
Swim Team Sibling Discount:
The fee to join swim team (ages 12 and under) is $130. This year we will offer a sibling discount. A second child is $115 and all remaining children are $100. All children 13 and older pay only a $25 fee. Keep in mind, this is for siblings only, not relatives.
Practice times and dates:
The website is up to date with this year’s practice times and important dates. I do not know which meets will be home and away yet, but the dates are listed.
Out of Woodfield and Non-Member Fees:
In the past, families who do not live in Woodfield or are not outside members of the Woodfield HOA were charged a $25 per child fee to join the swim team. We are very thankful that the Woodfield HOA voted to reduce that fee to a $25 max per family this season. When you review your registration forms online, make sure you only have the “Out of Woodfield” box checked for one child, so you will only be charged $25. There is an option to check it after each child you register, so please only check it for one child to avoid additional charges.
ASA Fees:
The Atlanta Swim Association is the league our team belongs to and they organize all of the meets, referees and the end of season divisional meet. Every child who swims in a swim meet this summer must join the ASA. This fee is in addition to the regular swim team fee. This can be paid during your registration on our website. The fee to join ASA is $24 until April 15, $35 from April 16-June 1 and $40 after June 1. I highly recommend you register for swim team, and therefore the ASA, before the fees are raised on April 15.
The only exception is children who are signing up for swim lessons ONLY. If your child will not swim in any meets this year, you may check the ASA exempt box during registration. If your child is six or older, even if you think they may not be able to swim in a meet, they will most likely be ready after a few weeks of practice. If you choose not to join ASA, your child will not be able to swim in a meet until you join.
New Swimmer Orientation for children 7 and older:
If your child or someone you know is interested in swim team, but is hesitant because he or she is new or doesn’t know the strokes, they are invited to our New Swimmer Orientation on Sunday, May 14 (time TBD). The children will be divided into age groups, will meet the coaches, see the coaches perform the different strokes and get in the pool to try them out, if they want. This orientation is open to any children who are new and interested in swim team, even if they have not yet registered. Please keep in mind it is only for children 7 and older who are new to the Woodfield Waves team. Lastly, this will be my fourth summer as the Parent Rep for the swim team and it will also be my last. I am committed to keeping my role through the end of the season, but will be ready to pass on the torch after it concludes. If you (or better yet you and a friend) are interested in taking over the parent rep role in the future and want to start learning the ropes now, please let me know!
