Meet 1 - Away @ Mayfair
It is almost time for the first swim meet of the season - let’s go Waves!! This is always an exciting and nerve-racking moment!
Location/Opponent:
This one is an away meet at Mayfair. Their pool is located at: 2870 Arborwoods Drive Alpharetta, GA 30022. They are a 5 lane pool. This means we have 2 scoring lanes per event. Additional note, their “deep end” is only 4 feet. You will likely see many of our swimmers going off from the wall rather than the blocks. This is always permitted. Have a discussion with your swimmer(s) about what they would be comfortable with in the shallow water.
Parking:
Keep in mind that parking is always at a premium at swim meets (everywhere). Just like we do, Mayfair asks that when parking on the street, you park on only one side of the street and obey any no parking signs that are placed. Please avoid blocking driveways.
Bullpens:
Our bullpens will be located on the basketball courts. Bullpens not on the pool deck are always an added challenge. Younger swimmers, please be sure you know your bullpen parent and stay or let them know where you are. They do, however, run a ready bench situation. For those who have attended either a fall season meet or the ASA championship meet at Georgia Tech, you will be very familiar with this set up. Essentially around 5 events ahead (for individual events), they will have a space to place kids according to their heat event and lane where they move efficiently from there to the blocks. For those that attended our Mayfair meet last year, you may recall we moved our kids inside the pool area to tables rather than the basketball court. Keep an eye when you get there as we are small and will likely do this again.
Marking Swimmers:
We will ask that you mark the right shoulder blade of your swimmers 10 and under (maybe even older) with their last name. This helps tremendously at the blocks when we have added adults checking on kids. There will be a mix of adults helping in the ready area and ensuring kids are at the blocks. Our coaches will be a final check, but sometimes kids get nervous and having their name on their shoulder blade allows us to confirm they’re in the right place at a glance
Concessions:
They will have hamburgers/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips & drinks as combos. For payment, they accept cash and Venmo. They will also have Surcheros nachos and have King of Pops on-site

If you sign up for Timer/Recorder, master recorder, or Place Judge for either shift, plan to attend the timers/judges meeting at 5:15.

The theme this week will be Team Spirit. Wear your team shirt, spirit shirts, or red/black/grey to support the Woodfield Waves.
Weather:
At this moment, we cannot predict what the weather will do. Stay tuned. Make sure you check email and app notifications as these are the two best methods to reach the masses if things change. Let’s all hope for a dry meet! Their weather plan is for everyone to head to your cars and we will communicate through the app.
