Meet 2 Information - Away @ CCR
Week 2 takes us to our second away meet of the season. - let’s go Woodfield Waves!!
Location/Opponent:
This one is an away meet at Country Club of Roswell. Their pool is located at: 2500 Club Springs Drive, Roswell, GA 30076.
Parking:
This is one of the few meets where parking is not really at a premium. They have a large parking lot by the pool and their overflow is at the driving range. So lots of available parking.
Bullpens:
Our bullpens will be located on the grass at the non-start end of the pool. Our spectator areas will be mostly around the splash pad area.
Marking Swimmers:
We will ask that you mark the right shoulder blade of your swimmers 10 and under (maybe even older) with their last name. This helps tremendously at the blocks when a timer can take a glance and ensure they have the correct kid.
Concessions:
This is a biggie! CCR does not allow outside food, drink, or coolers. They will however accept either cash or card this year - a huge improvement from our last visit to their pool. They will have burgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, and their pool bar will be open for adults. Plan accordingly. If we have anyone with food allergies who needs an exception, please let me know and we can try to request.
Schedule:
4:00 - Coaches, Junior Coaches, etc. arrive at CCR
4:30 - Swimmers arrive
5:00 - Woodfield Warm-up
5:15 - Timers, recorders, judges, ref, coaches meeting
5:30 - Meet Start
*all swimmers should Check in with a coach on their way in. 10 and under swimmers, check in with your bullpen parent as well.
Volunteers:
It takes many hands for the organized chaos of swim meets. Thank you to everyone for jumping in last week. We do still need several more for this week so get on and claim your spot or watch your email to be assigned a job.
If you sign up or are assigned Timer/Recorder, master recorder, or Place Judge for either shift, plan to attend the timers/judges meeting at 5:15.
Theme:
The theme this week will be Luau. Bring your best tropical accessories and colors as we cheer on our waves. And if you don’t have luau stuff, default back to team spirit and wear your red/black/grey.
Weather:
At this moment, we cannot predict what the weather will do. Stay tuned. Make sure you check email and app notifications as these are the two best methods to reach the masses if things change. Let’s all hope for a dry meet! Their weather plan is an overhang for some coverage in rain and cars if lightning.
Additional Notes:
There is a lot of temptation at their pool to be in water when not swimming. This is not allowed. Prepare your kids (and younger siblings) that they will not be allowed in the splash pad area nor the water slide area even though they’re tempting. They usually have lifeguards stationed to remind them, but it is always tempting so plan accordingly.
Second note, I am going to ask for everyone to be on their best sportsmanship. There is a history with this team that I know several of our older swimmers will remember, let’s leave all that in the past and everyone bring your best sportsmanship! No fights, no foul language, no negative talk on the deck. Keep it positive and fun for the kids. If issues do arise, come find me!
